Disney, TikTok Agree Deal on Sharing of Short Videos

Disney and TikTok have entered a new partnership that will allow TikTok creators to use characters, scenes and other content from Disney movies and television shows in short-form videos.

The agreement, announced on August 5, 2026, is the first partnership of its kind between TikTok and a traditional media company. It brings together Disney’s large collection of entertainment brands and TikTok’s huge community of creators who produce short videos for mobile audiences.

Under the agreement, creators will be given access to content from hundreds of Disney films and television series. This includes popular brands such as Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and FX. The arrangement will give creators more official Disney material to work with when producing short videos for TikTok.

The partnership will also take Disney content beyond TikTok. A selected group of videos created through the program will be shown on Disney+, the company’s streaming service. The videos will appear under a new section called Verts, which is designed for vertical videos that are mainly watched on mobile phones.

A pilot version of the program is expected to begin in the United States in the coming months. Disney and TikTok also plan to introduce the partnership in other markets in the future. However, the companies have not revealed the financial terms of their agreement.

The deal comes as streaming companies are paying greater attention to short, vertical videos. This format has become extremely popular, particularly among younger audiences who spend significant amounts of time watching content on their smartphones.

Other streaming platforms are also moving in the same direction. Peacock and Paramount+ have introduced vertical video series, while Netflix offers short videos through its Clips feature. The growing interest shows that traditional streaming companies are looking for new ways to compete for viewers’ attention.

For Disney, the partnership could provide an opportunity to attract more young people to Disney+. TikTok is already an important place where people discover movies and television shows. According to TikTok data, users shared an average of 6.5 million posts related to films and television every day last year.

TikTok also reported that nearly half of viewers surveyed had watched a movie or television program after discovering content about it on the platform. This suggests that short videos can influence what audiences decide to watch.

The partnership therefore gives Disney another way to connect its well-known stories with the creativity of its fans. It also gives TikTok creators access to some of the world’s most recognizable entertainment franchises.

As short-form video continues to grow, the Disney-TikTok deal could become an important example of how traditional entertainment companies and social media platforms are working together to reach changing audiences.

For other video-sharing platforms like Rumble Inc. (NASDAQ: RUM), the partnership between TikTok and Disney highlights the importance of collaboration within the entertainment industry so that all parties benefit from the synergy of each company’s strengths.
